Trumped up Trickle Down
Right out of the gate, Trump tripped over the low bar set by his own campaign. When he wasn’t leaning on the crutch of the same failed economic ideas of the last Republican administration, he was spouting falsehoods about the Ford Motor Company, denying claims he’s made about climate change, and even said that when he previously rooted for the housing crisis it was just “business.”
Here’s what people are saying:
@EliStokols: Hillary opens w/ things she wants to do. Trump goes right to blaming other countries for lost jobs.
@christinawilkie: Trump jumping around from Mexico to China to childcare and everyone getting fired to taxes. #debatenight #DistractedDonald
@alexburnsNYT: Right out of the gate: Trump claim on Ford is false, as @maggieNYT & I detailed yesterday > http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2016/09/24/us/elections/donald-trump-statements.html?_r=0
@CahnEmily: Family member, who is not partisan, texts me of Trump: “He is already not making sense. Rambling”
@politicalwire: That’s quite a word salad from Trump
@MaryEllenKlas: Hillary frames answer of how to help American pocketbooks with long list of detail, Donald frames the problem but offers only 2 details
@RachelCisto: And now Trump is denying that he said “global warming is a hoax by the Chinese.” Which he did. #debates
@ThePlumLineGS: Oh wow. Trump’s response to the charge that he rooted for housing crisis:
“That’s called business, by the way.”
@svdate: Trump is visibly having a tough time holding his temper in check.
@ryangrim: Trump is now up 2-0 in lies. Here’s the proof that last one was a lie. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/huffpost-debate-lie-counter_us_57e98ff9e4b024a52d29be77?womc98gpbldavpldi
@AdamSerwer: Trump said he did not call climate change a chinese hoax. He did. That’s whopper number two. http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2016/jun/03/hillary-clinton/yes-donald-trump-did-call-climate-change-chinese-h/
