Today is the second day in a row where Marco Rubio neglected his responsibilities as a U.S. Senator on committees focused on our national security to raise money for his presidential campaign. As noted, Rubio’s campaign thinks it’s okay to miss briefings on the Paris attacks because he attended one on Monday – despite the fact that intelligence continues to evolve and new details are still emerging.
“It is the second day in a row where Rubio skipped a critical international security briefing, one conducted by Secretary of State John Kerry, to focus on his personal political ambitions. If Rubio plans to continue to neglect our country’s security and threats from terrorists, he should resign from the Senate.
“Rubio has been quick to politicize the Paris attacks for political gain, but can’t be bothered to show up for classified briefings on national security. Our country can’t afford to rely on an absentee senator like no-show Rubio while there is an international security situation that is changing by the minute. Based on Rubio’s view that a lot of the votes he takes don’t ‘mean anything,’ we can only assume that a Senate Intelligence Committee briefing from Secretary Kerry doesn’t ‘mean anything’ to Rubio either.” – Christina Freundlich, DNC spokeswoman
