This week, the Democratic National Committee (DNC) launched a new media campaign to cast a spotlight on the many issues that can be impacted by the Supreme Court, why it’s so critical for the President to nominate a well-qualified candidate to fill the vacancy, and why United States Senators must fulfill their constitutional responsibility to provide a fair hearing and a vote. As part of that effort, the DNC launched a new video today featuring Chair Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (FL), DCCC Chair Rep. Ben Ray Lujan (NM), Rep. Ruben Gallego (AZ), Rep. Mark Takano (CA), and Rep. Diana DeGette (CO) to bring attention to the economic and human toll that climate change is already taking on states all across the country. From flooding in Florida, to wildfires in the Southwest, to the drought in California, the video provides an important look at why the American people need a fully functioning government, including a full Supreme Court.
In light of news that the Republican leadership in the Senate is now refusing to even meet with anyone the President nominates, the video concludes by telling the Senate’s Republican leadership, #DoYourJob. Earlier this week the media campaign featured women’s rights, voting rights, the rights of LGBT Americans, and immigration.
