DNC Response to Trump’s Distrust of U.S. Intelligence Community
Today on Fox News Sunday, Chris Wallace pressed Donald Trump about his refusal to accept reports from the Intelligence Community about the Russian hacking of the 2016 election and his decision to skip critical national security briefings.
In response, DNC Communications Director Adam Hodge released the following statement:
“Donald Trump’s distrust of the American Intelligence Community is alarming, unprecedented and dangerous. It is widely accepted that the Russian government used stolen information to influence the election, and the CIA has concluded that their goal was to help Trump win. But instead of putting American national security interests first, Trump and his advisors still refuse to acknowledge the facts – even as a growing list of Republican elected officials call for an investigation. Senators John McCain, Lindsey Graham, James Lankford, Rand Paul, and Marco Rubio are among those Republicans willing to put country first and demand answers about Russia’s interference in the election. Still, it’s not enough to call for an investigation. Members of the media and elected officials from both parties must hold Trump accountable for putting his own interests ahead of those of the nation.”
